“Theology is the queen of all sciences.” （“Sciences” 在此並不專指自然科學。）另一句相關口號是「所有真理都是上帝的真理」，“All truth is God’s truth.” 我無意說這兩個口號必然令人目空一切，但事實的確有不少信徒這樣想。這裡有一篇文章談及「神學是所有學問之后」的問題，雖然該文後半把問題收窄為神學有沒有資格指導釋經，但仍是值得參考的。Theology … The Queen of the Sciences?
此乃拙譯，原句是：“A true relation between philosophy and theology would respect the integrity of each discipline. This means that the relation between them could not be a onesided one. In a dialogue with the philosopher in which both partners’ integrity is preserved, the theologian must expect criticism as well as support. If he hopes that philosophy will allow him to clarify some areas of his own thinking and to strengthen some links in his own argument, he must also expect that philosophy will bring to his notice problems that he had overlooked and will show up weakness in his thinking of which he had been unaware. A fruitful relation between the theologian and the philosopher will include tensions as well as alliances, and perhaps it is in the give and take of this kind of dialogue that creative theologizing will take place.” John MacQuarrie, “What the Theologian Expects from the Philosopher?” The American Catholic Philosophical Association, (1967) vol. 41, p. 111. 該文也有談到其他難以溝通的原因，有興趣朋友可自行參考。
